CAMPING AT FINCA AL-MANZIL
CAMPO DEL MORO AT FINCA AL-MANZIL
Finca al-manzil is a registered Casa Rural in Extremadura, Spain. It has been running for 8 years with self-catering accommodation in the farmhouse and the barn, also B. & B. in the cortijo.
We have built the business up successfully and it is doing very well. It has grown together with the reputation of Extremadura for matchless nature, beautiful scenery and traditional rural life.
The finca is extensive with a huge area of woodland up on the mountain slopes and meadows further down. A place of peace surrounded by unspoilt nature. http://www.finca-al-manzil.com/
We have always been interested in creating a beautiful camping place and now that the rest of the business is established we feel it is the right time to create our camp, particularly with the huge interest in camping/glamping over the last few years.
The places we have chosen for the camping are the barn meadow and an olive grove, both magical parts of the finca with marvellous views of the sierra peaks and the surrounding olive groves. The barns in both situations are great open plan spaces, focal areas for everyone to meet up for drinks, dining, play games or sitting quietly with a book from the library, there are wood burning stoves for cooler Spring and Autumn evenings. Both places have full use of a swimming pool.
DINING OPTIONS
Breakfast is included in the price. It consists of fresh bread, cheese, fruit and conserves with coffee and tea.
As at Finca al-manzil the food has a Moroccan/Middle Eastern/ Iberic theme using local fresh produce in season, vegetarian dishes can be provided.
There will be a three course dinner available four nights a week to order in advance and tapas for the other three nights, a really good selection of delicious tapas made with love and imagination, also to order in advance.
Dining will be outside on the long covered porch.
Tapas and drinks can also be taken to table provided for every tent., a magical experience to enjoy a small candle lit space under the stars of a warm summer night
THE TENTS AND ATMOSPHERE
We are targeting an adult market; we envisage a calm, peaceful place; not really suitable for small children.
The tents are for just 2 people.
There is plenty of space and privacy; each tent will be at least 30 meters from the others and all are partially under the shade of trees.
We have chosen canvas bell tents and Saharan tents as we feel that they fit into the landscape and atmosphere of the finca. They have a Mali/ Moroccan vibe. We are great Morocco fans and have collected a lot of rugs and objects on our numerous journeys. We feel that the low level living of Moroccan décor looks wonderful, cool and minimalistic with an emphasis on natural colours and textiles with no excess clutter.
The tents are essentially for sleeping and relaxing in private, the barns provides meals, drinks, coffee and a place to socialize, listen to music and browse books and magazines.
The bathrooms are simple but adequate.
PRICES: €80 a night for 2 person tent including breakfast. Dinner €25 per head : Tapas €15 per head. Prices include use of swimming pool, linen and towels.
There is a damage deposit of €100 payable with the final payment which of course is returned if everything is left in good order.
ACTIVITIES
We have a few organized hiking treks and use our horses and donkeys as part of these treks or for independent rides. There are superb walks directly from the finca into the mountain and to local villages. Bikes can be hired from the finca for some easy rides such as the ride to a Visigoth basilica which is in an idyllic spot in the vast cork oak forests.
